Mahasamadhi

A mission is born…

Lord Shiva had now asked the yogi what he wanted, the yogi simply wished to know what to do next. Now the Guru and disciple worked together a package that would benefit all of suffering humanity. This was a four-fold system, which is as follows:

1) Darshan – the physical presence of the Guru, where just his divine sight will have the individual relieved and healed of their worries and negative thoughts. Sri Swamiji transmits his spiritual powers to help heal the body, soul and mind of the person.

2) Dhyaan – the initiation into a very old technique of meditation on the formless self. The meditation concentrates on the Ajna charka or “Third eye”.

3) Vibhuti – this is sacred ash made with sacred ingredients. Sri Swmiji uses the vibhuti for healing and blessings to the devotee. The vibhuti should never be placed on the ground, as it loses its power.

4) Bhava – the divine trance. Sri Swamiji uses his yogic powers to fill devotees with the presence and potency of the many aspects of Godhead. Bhava is used for the cleansing and purification of the individual and for preparation of further spiritual evolution. Bhava is usually given by Sri Swamiji during bhajans (divine singing).

On August 7th 1961, Sri Sri Sri Shivabalayogi emerged out of his tapas, in front of a crowd believed to be in the hundreds of thousands. Sri Swamiji’s body had obviously gone through many hardships and was weak, but the grace on his face glowed with peace and happiness to crowd.

The Mahasamadhi…

Throughout the next 34 years, Sri Swamiji took his mission all across the world. This was a very rare move amongst a yogi. He taught very openly and freely to devotees across the world. He found many ashrams and is still finding many ashrams. Throughout these years he was also put into tapas from time to time by Lord Shiva for the peace of the world.

In 1991,Sri Swamiji’s body and health rapidly deteriorated. Soon his kidneys shutdown and dialysis became a requisite for the next couple of years. On April 2nd 1994, Sri Sri Sri Shivabalayogi Maharaj entered Mahasamadhi through Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) in Adivarapupeta. This left millions of devotee’s around the world devasted. Many worried and asked “What next?” Now many people wondered to the assurance Sri Swamiji made a month earlier, that he would be with his devotees for at least 40 more years and that he still had much work to do in the world.
